Another significant milestone has been achieved by the SatNOGS Network ! It has reached its twelve millionth observation, and we are wholeheartedly grateful to the entire Community for this achievement!
Thank you all for your contribution and dedication to SatNOGS!
Twelve million Observations
On the 20th of July 2025, observation #12000000 was uploaded on the SatNOGS Network by station 1864 – SA2KNG Omni UHF/VHF of Libre Space Foundation’s Core Contributor Daniel Ekman in Sweden. The observation received data from the satellite ITUPSAT 1. The twelve millionth observation is of good quality.

Satellite ITUPSAT-1
ITUPSAT-1 is a student-designed and developed satellite by the Technical University of Istanbul, Turkey, and is a picosatellite that was launched into space on September 23, 2009. It is fully operational, alive, and kicking! The satellite’s main objective is to provide a hands-on project environment for the students at ITU. The SatNOGS Network has been tracking the picosatellite for the past two years, with over 10,000 observations received.
Gratitude for our SatNOGS Community!
Every SatNOGS achievement results from collaborative work and continuous efforts by hundreds of ground station owners around the globe. They have made this milestone (and everything related to SatNOGS) possible by scheduling observations, tracking satellites, and dedicating time and effort to the project’s success.
Everything has been accomplished, thanks to all of you!
Outer Space Open For All (The Libre Space Manifesto)
All of the Libre Space Foundation’s projects are designed to enhance scientific research and knowledge about Space, and to enable everyone interested in exploring Space for peaceful purposes. These values are also at the core of the Libre Space Manifesto.

Outer Space Open For All (the SatNOGS way)
Abiding by the Libre Space Manifesto values, SatNOGS is a project that not only is built and developed in a modular, open-source way, but the data collected is also distributed openly. The SatNOGS community offers support and guidance in onboarding new members and even helps satellite teams with their missions. SatNOGS has helped hundreds of satellite teams worldwide identify and track their satellite successfully throughout its years of operation. They assist missions worldwide in conducting their experiments and tests, as well as in achieving their objectives. The community can help satellite teams communicate with their satellite, as the Community schedules around 10,000 daily observations and guides the satellite teams throughout the onboarding process. Guiding the teams through the necessary actions and assisting with the dashboard of their mission, as well. All you need to do is contact the SatNOGS team early on and provide the essential details and information about your mission.
